The leadership of Federated Ikem Improvement Union, (FIIU), Abuja Branch, has commended Hon. Professor Paul Sunday Nnamchi, member representing Enugu East/Isi Uzo Federal Constituency of Enugu State, for his visible, consistent and constructive steps inside and outside the National Assembly since he was sworn in on June 13, 2023.
Speaking through the chairman, Chief Cyprian Ejike Agbodo, during a visit, the Association noted that “Professor Nnamchi’s visible and impactful representations have given us confidence that you are on the right path of history and in tune with the heart beats of your constituency.
“Against this background, members of the Abuja branch of Ikem Federated Improvement Union, the apex cultural organization of Ikem people worldwide, mandated these delegates to visit you in appreciation of the efforts you have made so far in improving the standard of life of our people through effective representation, networking and national convergence.”
He described the lawmaker as “the prepared mind that fortune favoured”, stressing that Professor Nnamchi hit the ground running immediately after inauguration by raising his first motion on the floor of the House on July 18, 2023, captioned “Need to Compel the Federal Character Commission to Diligently Discharge its Constitutional and Statutory Mandate and Responsibility.
“This motion was crucial not just to our constituency alone but the whole of the Southeast, South South and all marginalized constituencies in the country, at a time the FCC had become an impotent spectator in the Nigeria s dysfunctional society instead of an integrity agency enforcing the federal character principle, maintaining equity and justice in the Nigerian Federation. The motion connected nationwide instantly with deprived Nigerians starved of quality representation and credible voice.”
Chief Agbodo further observed that It was instructive that the visit which he described as an advocacy one was taking place at the time the 2025 national budget was being prepared, “and we feel it will be appropriate to remind you of the basic needs of our people for possible capture in the next budget.”
He also acknowledged the staggering number of 28 Bills and several motions raised by the Lawmaker in 18 months as further proof of his readiness to represent his people effectively.
“Twenty-eight bills in 18 months is an extremely high work rate and we are proud of you.”
The community leader further stressed that Professor Nnamchi had equally floated various beneficial remedial interventions in scholarships, poverty alleviation and other community enhancement programmes. The visitors presented him with a large portrait of himself encrusted in transparent glass.
Responding, Professor Nnamchi expressed his appreciation to his constituents for coming and the kind words used by their chairman, Chairman, Engr Agbodo, to describe his modest representation so far.
He stressed that the eulogies poured on him have further emboldened him to do more, assuring them that he would continue to do his best to put the interest his constituents in the front burner by attracting impactful projects to the constituency.
